Welcome to Wildwater Canoeing

Wildwater Canoeing is a discipline of canoe racing, also known as Wildwater Racing and Whitewater Racing. The wildwater time trial is the purest of whitewater racing forms - the athlete, the river, the clock.

A racing performance is the result of physical conditioning, skill and harmony with the water - and is the only sport where social paddling is necessary to achieve a peak performance. Beautiful water, scenery and companionship make the Wild Water Racing experience compelling. The competitor is free to take whichever route on the river they desire, a freedom of racing unsurpassed in the whitewater world.

Wildwater Canoeing is governed by British Canoeing

THE BURRS RACE WILL BE EARLIER THAN USUAL 16th OCT 2016. PLEASE ADD TO YOUR RACE CALENDAR.

Please add the Irwell Race at the Burrs Activity Centre, Bury to your race calendar for this Autumn & Winter WWR Series.

This will be a 2016/17 NW Regional and Wavehopper Race as well as the 2015/16 Wavehopper Championships Finals on Sunday 16th October, 2016 - so we're aiming for maximum participation and competition.

This is always a popular venue and so we've brought forward the race for what will hopefully be slightly warmer weather, to help fit in with any universities wanting to practice for BUCS and also stop any conflict with clubs wanting to race in the Tay Descent and Dart - which are weekends we have customarily used in the past.

The racing will be a the standard time trial Format

First runs start at 11.30. Second runs at 1230pm.

This will be directly followed by the Club Team race
